Have you been affected by the recent storms? Take some steps to limit the damage to your home.
Preparing for a storm
Bring all garden furniture inside, or tie it down securely. This includes trampolines; if they are lifted by strong winds they can cause considerable damage to properties and cars.
Check your roof has no loose tiles or slates that could easily be dislodged.
Make sure all trees surrounding your property are in good condition, you should cut back branches that hang over your roof or over power lines.
If your property has been damaged by a storm
Call our Claims team on 1850 85 8530. We will appoint a dedicated person to manage all aspects of your claim and they will explain the next steps to you.
If necessary call a plumber or builder to carry out emergency repairs, remember to take photographs of the damage before the repairs are completed.
If you have both Buildings and contents cover with Liberty Insurance you automatically have Home Emergency Assistance which covers emergency repairs to safe guard your home. We’ll put you in touch with reliable tradespeople (such as a plumber or electrician) and will cover the cost of the call-out, labour and materials needed for emergency repairs, up to a maximum of €250 for each emergency. Find out more here or call 1800 209 300.
Check your schedule to see if you have home emergency assistance.
We may ask you for the following:
- photographs of the damage caused by the storm
- a report confirming the cause and the cost of damage
In some cases we will appoint a loss adjustor to act on our behalf. We will let you know if we do this.
Our priority is to make sure that your claims experience is fair, efficient, prompt and transparent.
We understand that you may have questions regarding how your claim will be managed, which is why we have a 24 hour claims notifications helpline so we’re just a phone call away when you need us.
